Drum Pouf is an innovative furniture design that reimagines the traditional seating concept by incorporating elements inspired by the Caribbean steelpan musical instrument, creating a unique synthesis of form and function. This distinguished piece, designed by Serge Atallah, introduces a revolutionary approach to office and residential seating by emphasizing the sensation of weightlessness through its suspended design structure. The design comprises two primary components: a PU foam seat with textile upholstery secured by leather straps, and a lacquered or chromed steel frame that creates a distinctive floating effect. Available in three dimensional variations (800x800mm, 600x600mm, and 350x350mm, all with 400mm height), this versatile seating solution challenges conventional furniture design paradigms by integrating cultural references with practical functionality. The pouf's distinctive characteristic lies in its negative space design, which mirrors the form of a steelpan instrument, creating an implicit cultural connection that resonates with users on a subconscious level.
