Dr Alva Astronomy Gift Box

Dr Alva Astronomy Gift Box

Dr Alva Astronomy Gift Box is an innovative packaging design concept that reimagines the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival gift-giving experience through a sophisticated fusion of astronomical elements and contemporary design aesthetics. Created by designers Jiemei Fang and Kang Jiang, this remarkable packaging solution, measuring 350x350x550mm, transforms the conventional mooncake presentation into an interactive celestial experience. The design incorporates a unique projection lamp mechanism that allows users to project lunar imagery within their homes, effectively bringing the moon-viewing tradition indoors. Crafted from a thoughtful combination of cardboard, paper, plexiglass, and specialized projection components, the gift box serves as both a functional container and an artistic interpretation of space exploration themes. The design's conceptual foundation draws parallel between the scientific pursuit of skincare innovation and humanity's enduring fascination with cosmic discovery. Distinguished by its Bronze A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, this creation successfully addresses multiple design challenges, including complex box structuring and innovative plexiglass mold development. The interactive element involves a telescope-like component that can be positioned within an observatory section, allowing users to rotate the mechanism for moon projection. This sophisticated packaging solution, completed in Shenzhen during 2021, exemplifies how traditional cultural celebrations can be enhanced through contemporary design innovation, creating a meaningful connection between product presentation and cultural significance.
