DQ House Residence

DQ House Residence

DQ House Residence is an exemplary architectural masterpiece located in Torres, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, embodying contemporary residential design principles through its striking geometric composition and thoughtful spatial organization. The structure, completed in 2018, features a distinctive rectangular brick prism elevated on concrete slabs, creating a dynamic interplay between solid and void elements. The 660-square-meter residence demonstrates exceptional architectural ingenuity through its strategic volumetric subtractions, which accommodate second-floor balconies and openings, while the ground floor employs extensive glazing to establish a seamless connection between interior and exterior spaces. The design philosophy emphasizes architectural sobriety and material authenticity, utilizing locally sourced materials and traditional construction techniques to create a harmonious balance between modern aesthetics and regional building practices. The spatial arrangement distinctly separates private and social functions, with the upper level housing two distinct wings for parents and children, connected by an elegant footbridge, while the ground floor features fluid, light-filled social spaces. This sophisticated residential project, recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category in 2019, exemplifies innovative space utilization and environmental integration, particularly through its thoughtful orientation towards a lake while maintaining privacy. The residence's design successfully achieves a delicate balance between transparency and solidity, creating warm, dynamic interior spaces flooded with natural light while maintaining the structural integrity and privacy requirements of a family home.
