Downtown Penthouse, Toronto Private Residence

Downtown Penthouse, Toronto Private Residence is an exemplary contemporary living space occupying an entire 400-square-meter level within a high-rise condominium in Downtown Toronto, distinguished by its sophisticated design approach and innovative spatial solutions. This Gold A' Design Award-winning residence masterfully balances public and private areas while showcasing an extensive art collection throughout its carefully curated spaces. The design transforms a near-raw shell into an elegant modern dwelling, featuring a thoughtfully planned layout that begins with a dramatic elevator lobby incorporating draped walls and a lowered ceiling to conceal building services. The interior architecture employs a refined material palette, including white glazing panels in the gallery passage, walnut paneled flooring, and a striking custom-designed permeable screen that defines spatial boundaries while maintaining visual continuity. The living area is ingeniously divided by a double-sided, cold-rolled steel fireplace, creating distinct zones for both large gatherings and intimate conversations. The open-plan dining-kitchen-den area demonstrates exceptional attention to detail with its custom kitchen island featuring Corian countertops and polished chrome legs, complemented by sophisticated white lacquer and walnut tech wood millwork. The private quarters showcase luxurious materials and thoughtful design solutions, including his-and-hers ensuite bathrooms finished in linear brown marble and book-matched Statuario marble, respectively. The master bathroom features an architecturally significant bathtub placement, elevated on a platform to conceal plumbing while maximizing city views. This penthouse exemplifies contemporary urban living through its harmonious blend of functionality, aesthetics, and sophisticated material selection, earning recognition at the prestigious A' Design Award competition for its outstanding interior design achievement.
