Double Bass 23 Residence

Double Bass 23 Residence

Double Bass 23 Residence is an exemplary modern residential interior design project located on the 23rd floor of a building in Taiwan, completed in July 2021. This sophisticated 403.3-square-meter apartment, recognized with a Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, masterfully integrates four primary materials: travertine, oak, steel, and leather to create a harmonious living environment. Designed by Marx Chuang, the project draws inspiration from the calm and artistic nature of its occupants, metaphorically reflecting the warm, resonant tones of a cello in its spatial composition. The residence features a thoughtfully planned layout that positions the public area at its core, with private spaces distributed on either side, enabling optimal family interaction while maintaining privacy. The design's material selection emphasizes the natural beauty of raw materials, with travertine stone walls serving as the foundational element in public areas, complemented by steel panels utilized in shelving systems, and enhanced by the warmth of oak woodwork and leather accents. The project successfully addresses several technical challenges, including seismic considerations through the implementation of metal steel rods for stone installation, and demonstrates exceptional construction quality management in completing the extensive space within a 10-month timeframe. The interior's neutral color palette and logical spatial arrangement respond effectively to environmental factors such as wind direction, sunlight, and thermal conditions, creating an energy-efficient living space that reduces carbon footprint while maintaining aesthetic sophistication.
