DORICIOUS Restaurant is an award-winning culinary establishment that masterfully blends Italian and French dining cultures, designed by Chen Wan-hao and completed in 2016 in Taipei. The restaurant's name derives from the Chinese idiom Da Kuai DuoYi, expressing the joy of savoring delicious food, which forms the cornerstone of its design philosophy. The interior space exemplifies sophisticated contemporary European dining aesthetics, characterized by a harmonious fusion of materials including teak wood, taupe paint, and matte gold iron decorations. The design achieves visual distinction through carefully curated elements such as wood art, metal frameworks, mullion glass structures, and Bolon carpets, while grass lamps contribute to the warm ambiance. The space features a refined color palette of greyish green and white, creating an elegant backdrop punctuated by vibrant 3D wall paintings in red, yellow, and orange hues. Notable design elements include geometric shapes that add visual interest, strategically placed wall mirrors that create spatial illusion and enhance the illuminated ceilings, and white oak textures that provide depth to the overall composition. Rather than employing traditional ornate European decorative elements, the design opts for clean lines and modern simplicity through simple panels and 3D metal frames. The restaurant's interior planning seamlessly integrates brand identity with spatial design, creating an environment that complements its fusion cuisine offerings. This thoughtfully executed design earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its excellence in spatial innovation and aesthetic achievement.
