Dom Pechati Public Space is a remarkable architectural renovation project that transformed a 1930s printing warehouse into a vibrant multifunctional public venue in Yekaterinburg, Russia. This innovative adaptive reuse project, completed in 2014, masterfully preserves the building's constructivist heritage while introducing contemporary functionality and design elements. The space spans 1,024 square meters and operates continuously, functioning as a restaurant during daytime hours and transitioning into a nightclub and cultural venue during evening hours. The design approach carefully maintained original architectural elements, including exposed brick walls, metal frames, and concrete structures, while incorporating modern amenities and systems. The interior design philosophy harmoniously blends European and Russian furniture from the 1950s and 1960s with contemporary elements, creating a distinctive loft aesthetic that respects the building's industrial heritage. Significant technical improvements were implemented, including comprehensive engineering systems, reinforced structural elements, and modernized building services, transforming the former cold warehouse into a comfortable, climate-controlled environment. The project, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional achievement in adaptive reuse architecture, combining historical preservation with modern functionality. The space serves as a cultural hub, hosting exhibitions, workshops, concerts, and various public events, while its thoughtful renovation maintains the spirit of constructivism that characterizes Yekaterinburg's architectural identity.
