Dexig.NA Customizing Bag Design is an innovative fashion accessory concept that merges personalization with genetic-inspired design aesthetics, created by industrial designer Arin Jeong. This sophisticated leather bag design, whose name cleverly combines Design and DNA, draws inspiration from the twisted helical structure of genetic molecules, translating this biological form into a functional fashion statement. The design features a distinctive twisted leather construction with dimensions of 220mm x 25mm x 90mm, incorporating an ingenious customization system that allows users to express their personality through interchangeable decorative elements. The bag's unique architecture was achieved through extensive prototyping to determine the optimal degree of twist, while its construction utilizes high-quality cow leather with digitally printed patterns inspired by various creatures from nature. A particularly innovative aspect of the design is its integrated magnetic system, enabling users to attach and detach different patterns at will, effectively allowing them to design their own DNA through fashion. This metaphorical approach to personal expression through customizable accessories earned the design a Silver A' Design Award in the Fashion and Travel Accessories Design category, recognizing its contribution to innovative fashion design and its unique approach to fostering human connections through personalized accessories. The project, developed at Hongik University, represents a thoughtful exploration of how design can facilitate social interactions and personal expression, while maintaining functional practicality in everyday use.
