Derek Exhibition Center Showroom is an innovative interior design project completed in 2015, located in Taichung City, Taiwan, that masterfully integrates the concept of flowing time with contemporary exhibition space design. The 400-square-meter showroom, designed by Li-Ling Chang, features a sophisticated interplay of light and shadow, utilizing black glossy walls contrasted with white marble polished floors to create a compelling sensory experience. The space is distinguished by its unique approach to product presentation, incorporating scattered keywords and product figures on wall surfaces that immediately engage visitors with the core values of the exhibition. The design philosophy draws inspiration from the metaphor of a meditative forest, realized through the extensive use of Indian black slates and wood block walls, creating an atmosphere that transports visitors from urban bustle to serene contemplation. The showroom's innovative lighting design includes LED light bars extending from ceiling to black stone sinks, symbolizing natural springs in a dark valley. The first floor, spanning 208 square meters, features ink landscape paintings paired with grey slate walls and embedded white products, while the second floor's 192 square meters continues the nature-inspired theme with marble flooring featuring antiquity wood grains that evoke bubbling streams. This exceptional design earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2017, acknowledging its outstanding contribution to spatial design innovation and its successful integration of aesthetic and functional elements.
