Denmark Residential
Denmark Residential is an exemplary interior design project completed in New Taipei City, Taiwan, that masterfully embodies Danish design principles through its minimalist aesthetic and functional approach. The 180-square-meter residential space, designed by Tzu-Chi Su, showcases a sophisticated integration of simplicity and elegance, featuring an innovative constructing technology that harmoniously blends materiality, spatial layout, and lighting arrangements. The project, completed in 2018, demonstrates exceptional attention to material selection, incorporating German sliced stone, Japanese diatomaceous earth, gloss stainless steel, washed masonry tile, timber veneer, and quartz tiles, all chosen for their durability, maintenance efficiency, and health-conscious properties. The design's distinctive features include a double-height ceiling and large-plan quality, complemented by grey-scale sliced stone deployments that accentuate the purity of white surfaces in both the TV wall and dining area. A notable aspect of the design is its emphasis on natural light and views, achieved through an open-plan format that maximizes the panoramic shore and greenery vistas, while incorporating electrically-operating louvre blinds integrated with an ambiance control system for privacy management. The project, which won the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2019, exemplifies the essence of Danish design philosophy through its functionality, practicality, and strong connection to nature, particularly evident in its boundary-less design techniques and extended lighting strips that support environmental sustainability goals.
