Delirios Armchair

Delirios Armchair

Delirios Armchair is an innovative fusion of digital craftsmanship and traditional artisanal methods, representing a significant advancement in contemporary furniture design. Created by Brazilian designer Guto Requena, this sophisticated seating solution exemplifies the harmonious integration of parametric design technology with traditional furniture craftsmanship. The armchair's distinctive structure is engineered using parametric waffle programming, a specialized form of 3D modeling that generates fluid, interconnected components assembled through precise fittings. The base, crafted from certified multi-laminated wood, is manufactured using Computer Numerical Control (CNC) technology, ensuring exceptional precision and structural integrity. The design's aesthetic appeal lies in its seamless marriage of digital and analog elements, where the upholstered backrest and seat appear to float delicately above the geometrically complex wooden foundation. Measuring 950 mm x 1140 mm x 1040 mm, the armchair offers both visual lightness and robust functionality, supported by four carefully positioned contact points with the ground. The upholstery options, including leather, wool, thread, or cotton, provide versatility in material selection while maintaining the design's sophisticated character. This piece, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, stands as a testament to the evolution of furniture design in the digital age, paying homage to Brazilian cultural heritage while embracing technological innovation. The name Delirios serves as a tribute to Flavio de Carvalho, a Brazilian artist known for integrating multiple creative disciplines as a form of social commentary.
