Dagaz Bed For Sleeping

Dagaz Bed For Sleeping

Dagaz Bed for sleeping is an innovative furniture design that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of Scandinavian and Italian cultural influences, created by Italian designer Cremasco Matteo. This distinguished bed design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2017, represents a thoughtful approach to contemporary furniture design through its unique structural elements and functional considerations. The design draws inspiration from two distinct sources: the Dagaz rune from the ancient Scandinavian alphabet and the architectural principles of the Ponte Vecchio bridge designed by Andrea Palladio in Bassano del Grappa. Crafted entirely from premium durmast oak, the bed features a distinctive floating appearance achieved through careful engineering and specialized construction techniques. The design incorporates special furrows for bedspring insertion, capable of supporting the combined weight of two persons, the bedspring, and mattress while maintaining structural integrity. The bed's innovative design eliminates the need for complex storage mechanisms while providing ample underneath space for storage and easy cleaning access. Manufactured using CNC machining processes, the bed can be assembled by two people in approximately 20-25 minutes, demonstrating its practical approach to modern furniture design. The bed's dimensions are available in two sizes: 1400 x 2000 x 500 mm or 1600 x 2000 x 500 mm, making it suitable for various room configurations. This patented design (Patent No. 402016000046697, Italy, 2016) represents a significant achievement in furniture design, combining aesthetic appeal with functional practicality while adhering to principles of sustainability and longevity, deliberately avoiding planned obsolescence in its construction methodology.
