Dabpa-Shatin Restaurant is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of oriental garden aesthetics with contemporary dining spaces, located in Hong Kong's New Town Plaza shopping arcade. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning establishment, spanning 2,233 square feet, revolutionizes the traditional concept of Sichuan cuisine restaurants through its distinctive cell-form layout featuring a 360-degree traffic circulation pattern. The design philosophy centers on creating an unexpected journey through an oriental garden, effectively bridging the gap between outdoor and indoor spaces while maintaining an understated sense of timelessness. The restaurant's architectural narrative is enhanced by strategically placed banquette seating arrangements, each positioned alongside large windows complemented by unique potted landscapes, offering diners both privacy and an immersive natural environment. A notable technical achievement in the design is the meticulous installation of over 100 custom-designed moss plates, carefully integrated to create optimal visual impact. The space planning demonstrates exceptional consideration for operational efficiency, particularly in facilitating seamless service flow from the kitchen to all dining areas, while the overall design successfully transforms a previously unremarkable corner into a compelling destination that appeals to diverse age groups and effectively modernizes the perception of traditional Sichuan cuisine. Completed in December 2020, this project stands as a testament to innovative interior design that successfully balances functional requirements with aesthetic excellence, earning recognition in the A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award category for its creative approach to commercial dining spaces.
