Cyberpsychology is composed of two terms, namely cyber and psychology. Cyber referes to the technological world, as it is derived from the ancient Greek word “kubernetes”, meaning “to steer” or “governor”. On the other hand, psychology is derived from the Greek term “psyche”, meaning “mind”. It is used to refer to the study of the mental processes and behaviour of humans. The term cyberpsychology emerged from the combination of these two words in order to describe a new field of study, centered on the research and development of human-machine interaction and its effects on human psychology.
