Curved Residential

Curved Residential

Curved Residential is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies contemporary residential architecture through its distinctive curved aesthetics and thoughtful spatial organization. This 66-square-meter apartment, completed in 2022 in Cracow, Poland, represents a significant departure from conventional residential design by embracing flowing, curved forms inspired by the building's elliptical exterior architecture. The design, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, masterfully divides the space into two primary zones - a public living area and a private night zone - while maintaining an open, fluid circulation pattern. The project's distinctive features include the elimination of traditional doors in favor of subtle transitions between spaces, custom-designed curved furniture that complements the architectural language, and a sophisticated material palette incorporating Khalo stone and carefully selected fabrics. The interior's lighting design utilizes concealed busbar systems and rimless fixtures to enhance the space's organic flow, while the strategic placement of custom-built furniture elements creates clearly defined functional areas without compromising the overall spatial continuity. This residential design successfully challenges conventional spatial arrangements through its innovative approach to form, materiality, and functionality, demonstrating how curved elements can create a harmonious living environment that balances aesthetic sophistication with practical functionality. The project's attention to detail extends to its storage solutions, with pocket doors concealing household appliances and thoughtfully integrated wardrobes, while the careful manipulation of light and shadow adds depth and dimension to the curved surfaces, creating an elegant and welcoming atmosphere that transforms a standard apartment into a distinctive modern dwelling.
