Cumulus Convention centre is an innovative architectural interior space designed by Lorène Faure and Kenny Kinugasa-Tsui, featuring a distinctive aesthetic approach that harmoniously blends functionality with artistic expression. The convention centre, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, represents a sophisticated transformation of an industrial space into a welcoming corporate environment that accommodates up to 150 people. The design concept draws inspiration from a field of pastel-colored pixels, manifested through the extensive use of high-performance acoustic panels wrapped in premium European fabrics. These panels, arranged in varying hues of blue, create dynamic patterns throughout the space while serving the dual purpose of aesthetic enhancement and acoustic optimization. The interior architecture employs a thoughtful gridded arrangement of seating and wall panels that establishes a clear sense of order while maintaining playfulness through random color patterns. A significant design feature is the stage area, which is distinguished by its darker color palette and geometric clarity, creating a natural hierarchy between presenter and audience spaces without imposing a formal atmosphere. The space incorporates state-of-the-art technology, including a full-width LED display screen for high-resolution presentations, while innovative lighting design washes the fabric-lined walls with soft illumination to emphasize their textural qualities. This careful attention to lighting and acoustics demonstrates a research-driven approach to creating hospitality values within a corporate setting, challenging traditional notions of formal business environments through the use of welcoming aesthetics and luxurious materials.
