Cubic Slim Chair

Cubic Slim Chair

Cubic Slim Chair is an innovative furniture design that seamlessly integrates lighting functionality with seating comfort, created by Finnish architect and designer Ari Korolainen. This multifunctional armchair represents a significant advancement in furniture design through its integration of LED lighting within the plastic armrest pieces, transforming the traditional seating concept into an illuminated furniture piece. The chair features a robust painted metal frame complemented by metal net details and premium leather upholstery, demonstrating exceptional attention to ergonomic considerations and aesthetic refinement. With precise dimensions of 750mm x 750mm x 750mm, the chair exhibits carefully planned minimalistic proportions that create a harmonious visual balance from all angles. The design incorporates practical elements such as built-in drink holders and wooden handles specifically engineered to assist elderly users in rising from the seated position. The LED lighting system offers adjustable color and brightness settings, enabling users to customize their ambient lighting experience. Suitable for both domestic and public environments, the chair serves as either a striking standalone piece or as part of a coordinated group installation, where the illumination creates distinctive atmospheric effects. This design, which won the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2017, exemplifies the successful fusion of functionality, innovation, and artistic expression in contemporary furniture design. The chair's development involved extensive research into LED lighting technology, with particular attention paid to optimizing brightness, color rendering, and temperature characteristics to enhance the overall user experience.
