CREAM Irvine Ice Cream Shop is an innovative retail interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of form and function in contemporary commercial spaces. The 190-square-meter establishment, completed in June 2015 in Irvine, California, represents a sophisticated interpretation of the ice cream shop concept, designed by Hootan Hamedani in collaboration with Farzane Sarpoolaki and Ladan Zolfaghari. The design philosophy draws inspiration from the fundamental elements of the store's offerings - warm cookies and cold ice cream - translating these contrasts into architectural expression through thoughtful material selection and spatial organization. The interior features a carefully curated color palette of blue, white, yellow, and brown, creating a playful yet refined atmosphere that enhances the customer experience. Notable design elements include blue subway tile installations symbolizing the brand's identity, energy-efficient LED lighting systems, and strategic use of oven exhaust technology to diffuse the inviting aroma of freshly baked cookies throughout the space. The storefront's innovative rotated orientation towards the main plaza demonstrates exceptional problem-solving in retail design, effectively increasing visibility and foot traffic. The project, which earned an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2016, showcases exemplary use of simple materials, including stainless steel finishes, stained concrete flooring, and an open ceiling design.
