Craft Trend Fair Seoul, 'Onn' Exhibition booth is an innovative interior exhibition space design that masterfully blends traditional Korean craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetic sensibilities. This remarkable installation, which earned the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, represents a sophisticated interpretation of natural landscapes within an architectural context. The exhibition space, measuring 6000mm x 15000mm x 4000mm, features walls crafted from traditional Hanji paper, expertly stained with Muk (traditional Korean ink) to create a mesmerizing gradient effect that evokes the atmosphere of a misty lakeside morning. The design incorporates 70 modular wall units, each measuring 1180mm x 300mm x 2000mm, carefully assembled to create an immersive environment. The sophisticated use of materials includes black mirrors spanning 1200mm x 13000mm on both sides of the booth, creating a reflective surface reminiscent of still water, while carefully selected gravels of varying sizes (1-3cm in diameter) form contemplative pathways through the space. The integration of T5 lighting within the 300mm thick walls enhances the textural depth of the gradated Muk on Hanji, creating an ethereal ambiance that transforms the exhibition space into an artistic interpretation of traditional Oriental landscape painting. The meticulous attention to material selection and experimental approaches to traditional techniques, particularly in the application of Muk on different Hanji textures, demonstrates an exceptional commitment to craftsmanship and innovation in exhibition design.
