Cozy White Residential
Cozy White Residential is an award-winning interior design project completed between 2018-2019 in Taipei, Taiwan, that masterfully integrates Nordic minimalism with contemporary loft-style living. Designed by Yu-Chi Liu and Yi-Han Chen, this residential transformation exemplifies sophisticated spatial planning and thoughtful architectural intervention, particularly notable for its innovative spiral staircase design that serves as both a functional element and an artistic centerpiece. The project's distinctive approach to modern living is characterized by its predominant use of pure white tones, comprising 80% of the interior surfaces, complemented by carefully balanced elements of black, grey, and warm wooden accents. The design philosophy emphasizes the harmonious interplay of natural light and space, incorporating reflecting glasses and premium materials including carved white marble, iron components, and super wear-resistant wooden flooring to create an atmosphere of refined domesticity. The spatial arrangement was specifically conceived for a family of four, returning to Taiwan after years abroad, with particular attention paid to facilitating family interaction through open-plan living areas and thoughtful sight lines. The project's technical innovation is evident in its custom-designed spiral staircase, which features precisely calculated dimensions and a sophisticated combination of flat iron and round bars, ensuring both safety and aesthetic appeal while maximizing spatial efficiency. This residential design, recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional achievement in combining functional practicality with aesthetic refinement, creating an environment that successfully balances minimalist design principles with warm, livable spaces.
