Conventional Ovens
A conventional oven, also known as a traditional oven, is a kitchen appliance used for baking, roasting, and heating food. It is a stationary appliance that is typically installed in a kitchen wall or cabinet. Conventional ovens use radiant heat from heating elements located at the top and bottom of the oven to cook food. The heat is circulated by natural convection, which is the movement of hot air rising and cool air sinking. This creates a consistent temperature throughout the oven, ensuring that food is cooked evenly. Conventional ovens come in different sizes and styles, including single and double ovens. Single ovens are the most common and are generally 60cm wide, while double ovens are typically 90cm wide and have two separate compartments for cooking. Conventional ovens are versatile and can be used for a variety of cooking methods, including baking, roasting, and broiling. They are also ideal for cooking large meals, such as Thanksgiving dinner, because of their size. One of the benefits of using a conventional oven is that it provides a consistent and even heat source, which is essential for baking. Conventional ovens are also relatively easy to use and maintain. They typically have a simple control panel with temperature and timer settings, as well as a light that allows you to see inside the oven while cooking. Additionally, conventional ovens are often more affordable than other types of ovens, such as convection ovens. However, conventional ovens do have some limitations. They can take longer to preheat than other types of ovens, and they may not be as energy-efficient. Additionally, because they rely on natural convection, they may not cook food as quickly as other types of ovens.
