Contemporary Design Table

Contemporary Design Table

Contemporary Design Table is an innovative furniture piece designed by Yacob Sughair that exemplifies the intersection of mathematical precision, engineering principles, and artistic vision in contemporary furniture design. This sophisticated table, completed in 2016 in Amman, Jordan, features a distinctive structural composition where the tabletop is supported by four meticulously arranged metal triangles, each paired and positioned in opposing configurations to create varying visual perspectives from different angles. The table's dimensions of 140cm x 70cm x 43.4cm are carefully calculated to achieve both aesthetic harmony and functional stability, while its black marble surface receives special treatment to achieve a unique snake-like texture that combines smoothness with visual intrigue. The design's fundamental principle demonstrates how substantial weight can be elegantly balanced on minimal contact points, challenging conventional furniture design approaches. This piece, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2017, represents a significant achievement in contemporary furniture design, showcasing how geometric principles can be transformed into functional art. The table's design philosophy emphasizes the multifaceted nature of natural forms, allowing viewers to discover different details and perspectives as they move around the piece, creating an engaging visual and tactile experience that combines practical functionality with artistic expression. The sophisticated engineering behind the design enables the table to maintain structural integrity while presenting a visually lightweight appearance, making it an exemplary piece that bridges the gap between functional furniture and sculptural art.
