Connotation Relaxed Residential Space

Connotation Relaxed Residential Space

Connotation Relaxed Residential Space is an exemplary residential interior design project that embodies the principles of minimalist processing and authentic material expression, created by designer Bond Chen. This 165-square-meter interior space, completed in 2019 in Tainan, Taiwan, represents a sophisticated approach to retirement living through its thoughtful division into public and private domains. The design philosophy centers on presenting materials in their most natural state, utilizing travertine, smoked solid wood, teak, oak, and stretched fabric, with minimal processing to preserve their inherent textures and qualities. The space is characterized by its low-key, introverted atmosphere, achieved through the deliberate use of natural materials and careful spatial planning. The public areas feature travertine stonework complemented by iron, mirror, and titanium plate elements, while the private sectors incorporate warm wood tones to create a bright, harmonious living environment. The design's innovative approach to spatial organization allows for both social interaction and personal retreat, with integrated balcony spaces that blur the boundary between indoor and outdoor living while providing respite from urban bustle. This project, which earned the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional attention to material authenticity, spatial functionality, and environmental consciousness, setting a notable precedent in residential interior design for retirement living.
