Cong Tai Baijiu Beverage is an innovative packaging design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of traditional Chinese cultural elements with contemporary design aesthetics. Created by designers Wen Liu and Junyi Xiao in 2019, this ceramic bottle design masterfully incorporates symbolic elements of Chinese zodiac culture, specifically focusing on the Year of the Rat motif. The distinctive design features an anthropomorphized rat figure integrated with a traditional Chinese coin symbol, conveying prosperity and auspicious meanings while challenging conventional representations of the zodiac animal. The packaging's exterior employs a sophisticated radiant pattern that creates a dynamic visual effect, while the bottle itself is crafted from marble-textured ceramic material, paying homage to traditional Chinese craftsmanship. The design's dimensions, measuring 160mm in length, 130mm in width, and 320mm in height, have been carefully considered to create an optimal user experience. This innovative approach to packaging design, which successfully bridges Eastern and Western design sensibilities, earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, acknowledging its contribution to cultural preservation through modern design language. The project demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its water transfer printing technology implementation and its thoughtful presentation of Chinese zodiac culture to a global audience.
