Concavity And Convexity Office Space

Concavity and Convexity Office Space is an innovative interior design project that masterfully blends classical architectural elements with modern materials and aesthetics, completed in June 2021 in Taoyuan, Taiwan. This 1,170-square-meter, two-story reception center represents a significant achievement in contemporary interior architecture, drawing inspiration from the abstract expressionist works of Pierre Soulages, particularly his exploration of the relationship between black, line, and light. The design's distinctive features include the creative use of galvanized mesh panels for partitions and stairwells, enabling natural light to create dynamic shadow patterns throughout the space. A notable element is the black and white mirrored corridor, which creates an illusion of a time tunnel, allowing visitors to experience a unique transition between classical and modern design elements. The project, which won an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional innovation in its treatment of common industrial materials, elevating mundane elements like corrugated sheets and galvanized mesh panels through sophisticated color palettes and classical architectural references. The space encompasses various functional areas including meeting rooms, an audio-visual room, exhibition spaces, VIP rooms, and lounges, all unified through a coherent design language that emphasizes the interplay of light and shadow. The ceiling design deviates from traditional symmetrical approaches, featuring asymmetrical collage carvings that present classical elements in a contemporary context, while the installation of metallic water ripple glass panels and large vertical windows creates a dynamic environment that transforms with natural light conditions throughout the day.
