Compressing Fans

Compressing fans, also known as centrifugal fans, are a type of mechanical device used for moving air or other gases. They are commonly used in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, as well as in industrial applications such as combustion air supply, pneumatic conveying, and drying systems. Unlike axial fans, which move air in a straight line parallel to the fan's axis, compressing fans move air perpendicular to the fan's axis, creating a centrifugal force that increases the pressure of the air. This makes them ideal for applications where high pressures are required, such as in HVAC systems that need to move air through ductwork. Compressing fans consist of a rotating impeller, which is a series of blades arranged around a central hub, and a stationary housing called a volute. As the impeller rotates, it draws air into the center of the fan and accelerates it outwards towards the volute. The volute then converts the high-speed, low-pressure air into high-pressure, low-speed air, which is then discharged into the system. Compressing fans can be designed with various impeller shapes and sizes to suit different applications and performance requirements. One advantage of compressing fans is their ability to handle high volumes of air at high pressures, making them ideal for use in large commercial and industrial buildings. They can also be used in applications where space is limited, as they are more compact than axial fans of the same capacity. However, compressing fans are generally less efficient than axial fans, and can be noisier due to the higher speeds and pressures involved.
