Compass Desk is an innovative architectural workspace solution designed by Alexey Samygin, distinguished by its unique transformable design and technical drawing capabilities. This meticulously crafted furniture piece, which earned the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, represents a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetic sophistication. The desk's most notable feature is its convertible surface mechanism that transforms a portion of the tabletop into an angled drawing board fixed at 20 degrees, making it ideal for technical drafting and architectural work. Constructed from solid oak and finished with transparent oil to highlight its natural grain patterns, the desk incorporates decorative brass details and cedar wood drawer interiors, exemplifying superior craftsmanship and material selection. The distinctive design draws inspiration from technical drawing instruments, particularly evident in its support structure which resembles two pairs of compasses, reinforcing its connection to architectural tools. With dimensions of 1635mm width, 1200mm depth, and variable height from 760mm to 1045mm, the desk accommodates either single or dual workspace configurations. The top features five sliding drawers and is ingeniously designed with two hinged sections, facilitating easy transportation and spatial flexibility.
