Colors and the Origin Gym is an innovative interior design project completed in July 2021 in New Taipei City, Taiwan, that masterfully integrates color psychology with minimalist architectural elements to create an energizing fitness environment. The 99-square-meter space, designed by Chien-Yuan Wang and Hui-Chen Fang, takes inspiration from the Pantone 2021 Colors of the Year, utilizing Ultimate Gray and Illuminating Yellow to symbolize stability and hope. The design's core philosophy centers around the steel-structured Z Power logo at the counter, embodying the harmonious coexistence of power, gentleness, and aesthetics. The space employs deconstructivist techniques and the principle of 'less is more,' featuring exposed architectural elements such as bare brick walls, architectural concrete, and visible ceiling infrastructure that emphasizes authenticity and origin. The thoughtful color scheme incorporates period red for vitality, grass green representing health and nature, and strategic color blocking that creates distinct spatial experiences. This design, which won an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional spatial planning that promotes physical and psychological well-being, particularly relevant during global challenging times. The project's innovative approach to combining raw architectural elements with vibrant color psychology creates an environment that not only facilitates physical exercise but also nurtures mental wellness and confidence.
