Color-free Collections Exhibition & Sales Space

Color-free Collections Exhibition & Sales Space is an innovative interior design project that revolutionizes commercial space design through its minimalist approach to color and form. This 720-square-meter exhibition and retail environment, designed by Chinese designer Gu Teng, challenges traditional commercial space conventions by deliberately eliminating color to create a pure, contemplative atmosphere that enhances visitor engagement and product presentation. The space, measuring 15 meters in width, 48 meters in length, and 4 meters in height, employs large-scale geometric forms and sophisticated lighting techniques to transform a standard commercial venue into an immersive experiential environment. The design philosophy centers on the premise that by removing color, viewers are freed from predetermined emotional associations, allowing for more authentic and personal interpretations of the space. The project's material palette includes emulsion varnish, metal, glass, and marble, carefully selected to create intentional visual interruptions that simultaneously fragment and unify the space. The interior features twelve distinct seating arrangements, each uniquely dimensioned, while specially designed lighting systems interact with geometric elements to create dynamic spatial effects. This groundbreaking approach to commercial space design earned recognition with a Golden A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative use of space and material selection excellence. The project, completed in 2015, demonstrates how minimalist design principles can be successfully applied to create engaging commercial environments that prioritize human experience and emotional resonance over conventional color-based design strategies.
