Cocofamilia Logo And VI

Cocofamilia Logo And VI

Cocofamilia Logo and VI is an innovative visual identity system designed by Japanese designer Kazuaki Kawahara, representing an upscale rental apartment facility for seniors. This sophisticated design solution, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design category, masterfully integrates multiple layers of meaning through clever typographic manipulation. The logo's ingenious design incorporates a hidden message that emerges through dual-reading letterforms: when the 'f' is interpreted as an 'r' and the 'a' as an 'o', the word 'Cocoro' (meaning 'heart' in Japanese) becomes visible, while the 'm' character features an architectural arch bridge motif. This multifaceted approach creates a visual narrative that embodies the facility's core philosophy of 'Together, from the heart, like family.' The visual identity system includes a distinctive monogram called the 'f-chain,' which symbolizes the interconnected relationships between staff, residents, and their families. The design successfully balances aesthetic sophistication with practical functionality, maintaining its effectiveness across various applications from signage to promotional materials. Created between August 2016 and July 2017, this visual identity system stands out in the senior living sector by establishing a premium brand position through its refined design elements and thoughtful symbolic integration, demonstrating how strategic graphic design can effectively communicate complex institutional values while maintaining visual elegance.
