Cocodd Wedding dress is an innovative bridal fashion design that revolutionizes traditional wedding attire through its unconventional use of materials and versatile functionality. Created by Italian designer Ambra Castello, this groundbreaking design combines Teflon plumber's tape, meticulously crocheted to form a shaped silhouette below the knees, with scuba fabric to achieve a unique aesthetic and practical functionality. The dress features distinctive handcrafted fray effects on the straps, veil, and skirt edges, creating an animal-friendly alternative to traditional fur embellishments. Its adaptable design accommodates sizes 38 to 42 (Italian sizing) and heights between 165-175 cm, incorporating a removable veil that can be styled in four different configurations: traditionally over the face, attached to the shoulders, flowing behind, or arranged as a train. The innovative use of Teflon plumber's tape brings remarkable properties to the garment, including water repellency, fire resistance, and maintenance-free care with no ironing required. The incorporation of scuba fabric adds durability, flexibility, and UV protection while maintaining a luxurious feel. This design, which earned recognition at the A' Design Award in the Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design category, represents a significant advancement in sustainable and practical bridal wear, offering post-wedding versatility through its convertible below-knee dress design. The creation process, which spanned from October to November 2016, involved extensive research and experimentation to successfully implement unconventional materials in high-end fashion design.
