Coaxial Switches

Coaxial switches are electronic devices that are used to connect or disconnect a signal path between two or more coaxial cables. They are commonly used in radio frequency (RF) and microwave applications, where the signal needs to be routed between different components or systems. Coaxial switches are designed to provide a high level of isolation between the signal paths, ensuring that the signal is not degraded or distorted as it passes through the switch. The basic design of a coaxial switch consists of a cylindrical body with multiple ports for connecting the coaxial cables. Inside the body, there is a movable contact that can be switched between the different ports, allowing the signal to be routed to the desired output. The contact is typically actuated by a mechanical or electromagnetic mechanism, which can be controlled by a manual switch, a computer, or other electronic devices. Coaxial switches come in a variety of configurations, including single-pole single-throw (SPST), single-pole double-throw (SPDT), and double-pole double-throw (DPDT). SPST switches have only one input and one output port, while SPDT switches have one input and two output ports. DPDT switches have two input and two output ports, allowing for more complex signal routing. Coaxial switches are used in a wide range of applications, including telecommunications, aerospace, defense, and medical equipment. They are also commonly used in laboratory and test equipment, where they are used to switch between different signal sources or to isolate different components in a circuit.
