Coastal Private Club Private Club

Coastal Private Club Private Club is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies a sophisticated reinterpretation of oceanic elements within a high-end private club setting. Located in Wuxi, China, this distinguished establishment, designed by Ajax Law and Virginia Lung, challenges traditional maritime design conventions by departing from typical blue and green coastal palettes in favor of warm tones. The space's most striking feature is its architectural interpretation of wave dynamics, manifested through meticulously crafted metal walls cut in ladder-like patterns that simulate the turbulent patterns of a rough sea. The design's innovative approach extends to the flooring, where carpet striping creates varying intervals that mirror the ever-changing nature of wave movements influenced by wind conditions, transitioning from subtle ripples to dramatic storm-wave representations. This sophisticated interpretation of coastal geography and wave action demonstrates exceptional spatial awareness and artistic vision, particularly in how it influences the flow of both people and light throughout the venue. The project, which earned the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2016, showcases remarkable innovation in its approach to private club design. The space's dynamic interface between architectural elements and natural phenomena creates an immersive environment that transforms traditional concepts of maritime-inspired interior design into a contemporary masterpiece of spatial artistry.
