Clear Brushed Dust Hanger
Clear Brushed Dust Hanger is an innovative furniture design solution that seamlessly integrates clothing storage with garment maintenance functionality. Designed by Yu Lu and Wang Mingjie from China, this multifunctional furniture piece addresses the common issue of dust and pet hair accumulation on hanging clothes through its ingenious incorporation of bristle technology. The design, which received recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, features a sophisticated hanging system constructed from high-quality beech wood and artificial bristles, measuring 400mm x 400mm x 1740mm. The distinguishing characteristic of this design lies in its dual-purpose functionality, where the hanging rod is equipped with strategically placed bristles that enable users to remove dust and debris from garments during the natural motion of hanging or retrieving clothes. The thoughtful engineering of the rod's ends maintains sufficient length to accommodate unrestricted directional movement, ensuring a fluid and intuitive user experience that combines the acts of clothing storage, dust removal, and garment retrieval into one continuous process. This design particularly addresses the needs of pet owners and urban dwellers who face persistent challenges with dust and hair accumulation on their clothing. The integration of maintenance functionality into the basic structure of a clothing storage solution represents a significant advancement in furniture design, demonstrating how everyday objects can be reimagined to solve multiple user needs simultaneously. The project, completed in Guangzhou in 2018 and exhibited at the Zhuhai Unbounded Art Museum, exemplifies the principles of user-centered design by transforming a common household necessity into an efficient, multifunctional solution that enhances the daily clothing care routine.
