CIAK All Day Italian Restaurant is an award-winning interior design project that exemplifies the essence of Italian Dolce Vita (sweet life) through thoughtful spatial design and atmospheric elements. Created by design director Monique Lee and designer Leo Chan of Mas Studio Ltd, this 369-square-meter restaurant space, completed in 2016, masterfully recreates the ambiance of a traditional Italian town square. The design incorporates distinctive architectural elements including country house-style windows, red-brick façade walls, and parquet flooring to transport patrons into an authentic Italian setting. The centerpiece features an innovative wooden decoration that mimics natural tree branches, complemented by a radiating aluminum ceiling with wood surface finishing. The restaurant's design philosophy extends beyond mere aesthetics, integrating functional zones that pay homage to traditional Italian culture, such as a grocery display area near the entrance that reflects the heritage of Italian food retailers. A notable feature is the integration of cinema culture, achieved through an overhead projector that displays classic films, creating a nostalgic atmosphere reminiscent of 1930s and 1940s Hollywood. The sophisticated interior earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its excellence in spatial planning, material selection, and cultural resonance. The design successfully addresses the challenge of materializing the abstract concept of Dolce Vita into a tangible, immersive dining environment that encourages patrons to embrace a leisurely, enjoyment-focused approach to dining and social interaction.
