CHRONODROP Smart Watch is an innovative timepiece that seamlessly blends traditional horology with contemporary smart technology, distinguished by its unique water droplet-inspired design philosophy derived from Confucian wisdom. Conceived and designed by Beomjun Sohn, this sophisticated wearable device features a revolutionary interface centered around a droplet-shaped minute hand, complemented by an LED hour hand and circular display, embodying the metaphorical concept that time flows like water. The design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Jewelry Design category, incorporates advanced technological features within its 46.52mm x 6.87mm x 227.13mm aluminum case, including a touch screen wheel reminiscent of classic digital interfaces, modified quartz movement, LCD screens, 3-axis accelerometer, NFC capabilities, and GPS navigation. The watch's distinctive characteristics extend to its innovative user interface, where the droplet-shaped minute hand doubles as a pointer for selecting icons displayed on the white edge of the watch face, controlled via a crown and auxiliary buttons. The design's philosophical depth is further emphasized through consistent water imagery, featuring droplet-shaped strap locks and holes, while maintaining practical functionality with 10 ATM water resistance and Bluetooth connectivity. The smart watch's development, completed between October 2014 and January 2015, addresses the contemporary challenge of creating wearable technology that serves both as a functional smart device and a fashionable accessory, supported by a dedicated application compatible with both iOS and Android platforms.
