Choosy Restaurant

Choosy Restaurant

Choosy Restaurant is an innovative interior design project located in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, exemplifying a harmonious blend of contemporary café culture with local architectural elements. The 79.2-square-meter establishment, completed in October 2015, represents a significant achievement in commercial space design, earning recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design. The design, conceived by Ciao-Ling Yang, masterfully addresses the challenges of urban space utilization while creating an invigorating and sophisticated atmosphere. Distinguished by its striking entrance featuring two black columns adorned with inverted yellow triangular ironworks, the exterior seamlessly integrates wooden veneers, strategic plant placement, and an elegant shop sign that captures the essence of American LOFT-style aesthetics. The interior space optimization includes an ingeniously elevated dining area in the rear, complemented by metal racks that serve both functional and aesthetic purposes, facilitating natural light penetration and improved visual flow. A notable artistic element is the wall mural created by Dutch artists, depicting scenes and cultural elements of Kaohsiung City, establishing a meaningful connection between the establishment and its local context. The design philosophy emphasizes the relationship between human sensibilities and natural elements, manifesting in a space that successfully balances aesthetic appeal with practical functionality, while addressing contemporary challenges of urbanization and spatial constraints.
