Child's Happy Tree Space is an innovative interior design project that reimagines children's spatial experiences through a harmonious blend of natural elements and imaginative architectural features. This 120-square-meter space, designed by Chih-Ching Chen, transforms conventional interior architecture into an enchanting environment that nurtures childhood development and creativity. The design's cornerstone is a dramatic tree-shaped structure that extends from floor to ceiling, incorporating functional elements such as bookshelves and integrated lighting systems. The space features a sophisticated color palette dominated by light blue and white, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of open skies and natural landscapes. Notable design elements include honeycomb and bubble-shaped upholstery, varying levels and textures, and thoughtfully designed nooks including a rabbit-inspired hideaway beneath the tree structure. The interior incorporates innovative lighting solutions, including carefully positioned mirrors and illumination systems that create a starlight effect in designated areas. The design's educational aspects are subtly integrated through shape variety, tactile experiences, and a tree-shaped bookshelf system where books are presented as metaphorical fruits of knowledge. This Silver A' Design Award-winning project, recognized in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional consideration for child-scale architecture, incorporating elements that require adults to physically adjust their perspective to engage with the space at a child's level, thereby fostering meaningful intergenerational interactions and educational opportunities.
