Chem Tokens Educational Tool is an innovative educational system designed to revolutionize chemistry learning through a combination of physical interaction and augmented reality technology. This groundbreaking teaching aid, developed by designer Karolina Petraityte in collaboration with app developer Valentinas Rimeika, consists of a comprehensive set of 48 distinct tokens that represent chemical elements, with sizes and forms directly corresponding to the principles of the periodic table. The system employs UV-printed white Plexiglas tokens with magnetic properties, available in two different size ranges to accommodate both teacher demonstrations and student hands-on learning. The larger teacher collection features tokens ranging from 111 x 120 x 5 mm to 43 x 51 x 5 mm, while the student collection scales from 65 x 70 x 5 mm to 25 x 30 x 5 mm. This educational tool's distinctive approach combines tangible, physical interaction with cutting-edge augmented reality technology through a companion app, allowing students to scan individual tokens and visualize chemical elements in three-dimensional space. The design, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in the Education, Teaching Aid and Training Content Design category, addresses the traditional challenges of chemistry education by providing an intuitive, interactive learning experience that bridges the gap between abstract chemical concepts and practical understanding. The system enables students to physically manipulate atomic models, create molecular structures, and conduct virtual experiments in a safe, engaging environment, making complex chemical principles more accessible and comprehensible to learners.
