Checkers
Checkers, also known as Draughts, is a classic board game that has been enjoyed by people of all ages for centuries. The game is played on an 8x8 board with 64 squares of alternating colors. Each player starts with 12 pieces, typically colored black and white, which are placed on the dark squares of the board. The objective of the game is to capture all of the opponent's pieces or to block them so that they cannot make any more moves. The game is played by moving pieces diagonally across the board, with each piece moving one square at a time. If a player's piece lands on a square occupied by an opponent's piece, the opponent's piece is captured and removed from the board. Players may also jump over their opponent's pieces to capture them, in which case the capturing piece is moved to the square immediately beyond the captured piece. Checkers is a game of strategy and skill, requiring players to anticipate their opponent's moves and plan their own moves accordingly. The game has many variations, including international rules and American rules, which differ in the number of pieces used and the way in which they are allowed to move.
