Charlie's Sports Bar Sports Bar is an award-winning interior design project that exemplifies the sophisticated fusion of sports culture and mixology in a contemporary hospitality setting. Located in Taipei, Taiwan, this 100-square-meter establishment features a thoughtfully designed space that harmoniously balances rugged athleticism with refined craftsmanship. The interior design, conceived and executed by Rock Leung and Bryan Leung in 2018, masterfully incorporates a diverse palette of materials including colored glass, brass, rough surface concrete, and walnut to create dynamic interplay of light, sound, and sight lines. The centerpiece of the space is a 14-meter bar that serves as both a functional element and an architectural statement, complemented by a private stateroom and kitchen facilities. The design concept draws inspiration from the dual personality of its mixologist-owner, juxtaposing tough, sports-oriented masculinity with the precise artistry of cocktail creation. The establishment's distinctive orange and black storefront dramatically contrasts with interior shades of grey, creating a visual metaphor for the inherent duality of sports culture - conflict and comfort. The thoughtful spatial arrangement and material selection effectively communicate the owner's vibrant personality while maintaining functionality during both sporting events and regular service hours. This innovative design approach, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional skill in balancing atmospheric elements and creating an environment that seamlessly transitions between different modes of operation.
