Champs Elysees Restaurant is a sophisticated interior design project completed in 2020, representing a remarkable transformation of a five-star hotel buffet space in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Drawing inspiration from the romantic streetscapes of Paris, this Bronze A' Design Award-winning establishment encompasses approximately 1,058 square meters of thoughtfully curated dining space that masterfully balances modern luxury with cultural authenticity. The design, conceived by Chiu-Hung Cheung and team, features an innovative suspended art installation crafted from bamboo and traditional paper, paying homage to the local cultural narrative of the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Forest. The restaurant's interior architecture employs a refined material palette including stone, metal, and wood grain elements, complemented by sophisticated LED lighting systems and expanded metal meshwork that creates visual depth and interest. The space planning demonstrates exceptional consideration for functionality, incorporating various seating configurations from intimate two-person settings to private dining rooms accommodating six guests, while maintaining optimal traffic flow patterns centered around a strategic buffet placement. The design's champagne gold color scheme and curved architectural elements evoke Parisian elegance, while the integration of sculptural elements and floral installations enhances the space's romantic atmosphere. This commercial interior project exemplifies successful spatial transformation through its thoughtful combination of artistic elements, practical functionality, and cultural sensitivity, earning recognition in the A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award category for its innovative approach to contemporary dining environments.
