Chameleon Door Handle

Chameleon Door Handle

Chameleon Door Handle is an innovative architectural hardware design that represents a significant intersection between industrial design and interior architecture, conceived in 2020 by designers Elif Gunes and Ipek Memikoglu. This modular door handle system consists of a main body mounted on the door and three interconnected parts that form the handle, offering unprecedented customization possibilities through various material, color, texture, and pattern combinations. The design's revolutionary approach lies in its user-centric philosophy, where the final aesthetic composition is determined not by the designer but by the end user, allowing for personalized expressions that complement both the door surface and interior space. Distinguished by winning the Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Accessories, Hardware and Materials Design category, this ergonomic handle system measures 180mm in width, 55mm in depth, with a center height of 110mm from the floor. The design's significance stems from its ability to transform a typically mundane architectural element into an integral component of interior design, offering alternatives ranging from rose and black glossy finishes to matte materials, wood, and leather textures. This adaptability enables users to create combinations that reflect their lifestyle, personal taste, and spatial context, effectively bridging the gap between functional necessity and aesthetic customization in architectural hardware design.
