Chalet La Pedevilla Residence & Chalet

Chalet La Pedevilla Residence & Chalet

Chalet La Pedevilla Residence & Chalet is an exemplary architectural masterpiece situated in the heart of the Dolomite Alps, specifically in the hamlet of Pliscia, that masterfully reimagines traditional alpine architecture through a contemporary lens. This innovative residential complex, winner of the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, consists of two distinct yet harmoniously integrated buildings - a modern residence and a chalet - that pay homage to the region's traditional pair-style farm architecture while introducing sophisticated contemporary design elements. The exterior features a striking black-painted larch wood facade, referencing the sun-weathered appearance of traditional farm houses, while the interior showcases an elegant interplay of exposed white concrete walls incorporating dolomite rock aggregates and hand-hewn Stone Pine elements. The project demonstrates exceptional sustainability features, including geothermal and solar energy systems that ensure energetic independence, alongside a private water source that enables self-sufficiency. The buildings, measuring 200m² for the residence and 150m² for the chalet, exemplify architectural innovation through their structural composition, featuring exposed concrete construction from foundation to roof, complemented by regionally-sourced timber materials. The design's distinctive characteristics include inbound loggias and a thoughtful contrast between the black exterior shell and the luminous interior spaces, where white concrete surfaces harmonize with natural timber flooring, windows, and custom furniture, creating a sophisticated dialogue between traditional alpine architecture and contemporary design sensibilities.
