Cecilip Facade

Cecilip Facade is an innovative architectural envelope design that exemplifies the intersection of parametric design and functional aesthetics, created for a plastic surgery center in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. This groundbreaking facade, which won the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, features a distinctive organic form inspired by the female silhouette, achieved through a sophisticated superposition of horizontal elements. The structure encompasses 752 square meters of elevation, spanning 27 meters in length, 12 meters in height, and 2.5 meters in depth, composed of more than three thousand custom-fabricated stainless steel profiles with mirror finish. The facade's construction employs a innovative combination of materials, including composite aluminum panels, anodized aluminum rectangular profiles, and 22-gauge stainless steel plates, all assembled using advanced VBH 3M tape technology. This architectural solution not only serves as an aesthetic statement but also provides practical benefits through its ventilated chamber design and solar ray reflection properties, effectively protecting the building from the Caribbean's intense climate conditions with temperatures reaching up to 40 degrees Celsius and 80% humidity. The parametric model-based design represents a significant achievement in local architectural capabilities, demonstrating how accessible materials can be transformed into a sophisticated architectural statement that rivals more expensive traditional cladding solutions such as copper or zinc.
