CC House Residential Single Dwelling
CC House Residential Single Dwelling is an exemplary architectural achievement that harmoniously integrates contemporary design with natural surroundings, situated in the verdant landscape of northern Kerala, near Wayanad, India. This single-story residential structure, completed in 2022, represents a sophisticated interpretation of tropical modernism through its distinctive design featuring asymmetric C-shaped forms that mirror each other around a central focal point marked by an existing tree. The dwelling, spanning 270 square meters, demonstrates exceptional spatial planning with four bedrooms arranged around an open courtyard, complemented by an eight-foot-wide sit-out area that creates a seamless transition between interior and exterior spaces. The architecture employs a dark-textured exterior that complements its natural setting, while incorporating rubble masonry and glass windows with wooden frames to achieve a balanced fusion of rustic and modern aesthetics. The design philosophy prioritizes the conservation of existing vegetation, reflecting deep respect for the site's agricultural heritage and the owner's personal connection to the land. Notable technical achievements include the innovative construction of curved RCC walls, requiring specialized formwork and skilled craftsmanship. The interior spaces showcase thoughtful minimalist design principles, with carefully considered transparency levels that maximize openness in semi-private areas while maintaining privacy in bedrooms. This residential project, recognized with a Golden A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, exemplifies excellence in sustainable architecture through its response to local climatic conditions, socio-cultural context, and environmental considerations. The design's success lies in its ability to create a harmonious living environment that respects traditional values while embracing modern architectural principles.
