Cat Walk Piano Bar

Cat Walk Piano Bar

Cat Walk Piano Bar is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies sophisticated space planning within a challenging triangular layout, completed in July 2019 in Hsinchu City, Taiwan. This distinctive commercial establishment harmoniously combines open and independent features, showcasing a masterful solution to complex spatial constraints, particularly regarding the immovable restroom location adjacent to the entrance. The design's ingenuity is evident in its curved hallway, which skillfully bypasses structural limitations while incorporating laser-cut, upside-down wine glass imagery along the walls, creating a compelling visual narrative through linear design elements. The space, spanning 171.9 square meters, demonstrates exceptional attention to acoustic engineering through the strategic use of thick blue velvet curtains on large window walls and red velvet stage curtains, which serve both aesthetic and functional purposes. The interior's sophisticated ambiance is enhanced by a thoughtfully designed entrance featuring black slabs and burgundy leather, leading to a layout that positions the bar counter to the left and the performance stage as the immediate focal point upon entry. Notable design elements include the counter's gentle indirect lighting, artistic white marble patterns, and metal wine cabinets with distinctive rusted textures. The space planning incorporates implicit boundaries between seating areas, delineated by curved ceiling grilles that double as sound-absorbing materials, while maintaining an elegant flow throughout the venue. This exceptional design, created by Shih-Kai Chen, was recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2020, acknowledging its innovative approach to commercial space design and its successful integration of functionality with aesthetic excellence.
