Casa De Mar Single Family Residence

Casa De Mar Single Family Residence

Casa de Mar Single Family Residence is an architecturally distinguished residential project located in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico, that exemplifies the harmonious integration of built environment with natural surroundings. This innovative dwelling, completed in 2023, demonstrates a sophisticated approach to contemporary residential architecture through its thoughtful incorporation of passive cooling strategies and indigenous materials. The design's central concept revolves around creating a symbiotic relationship between architectural elements and nature, featuring a distinctive horseshoe-shaped configuration that optimizes natural ventilation and lighting. A notable element of the design is its central pool, which serves both aesthetic and functional purposes by generating evaporative cooling effects that naturally moderate the interior climate, reducing dependency on mechanical cooling systems. The residence's spatial organization is meticulously planned to provide distinct social and private zones, each with separate access points to ensure optimal privacy and functionality. The architectural vocabulary employs local stone and wood materials, not only supporting sustainability principles but also establishing a strong contextual connection to the region's architectural heritage. The interior spaces are characterized by a nature-inspired color palette and thoughtful implementation of diffused lighting, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and well-being. This Silver A' Design Award-winning project in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category represents a significant achievement in residential architecture, particularly in its innovative approach to climate-responsive design and its successful integration of modern living requirements with environmental consciousness.
