Carsten Nicolai
Carsten Nicolai is a German visual artist and musician best known for his abstract works in contemporary art. Born in Chemnitz, East Germany, in 1965, Nicolai started his artistic career in the early 1990s and has since become an internationally recognized artist. His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums worldwide, including Palais de Tokyo in Paris, MASS MoCA in Massachusetts, and the Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin. His multimedia projects explore the intersections between electronic sound and visual art, particularly in the mediums of installation art and television broadcast. Among his notable works are Algorithmic Poetry (2005), a series of robotic sculptures that generate poetry using computer code, and Paramorph (2007), a film that combines digital animation with aspects of classical theater.
