Carpos Packaging Design is an innovative packaging solution that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of form and function in contemporary design practice. Created by Greek designer Panos Tsakiris, this limited edition packaging system encompasses both a distinctive bottle vessel and an outer protective casing, drawing inspiration from the organic forms of olive tree trunks and the cultural resonance of Mediterranean family bonds. The design, which garnered a Silver A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, features a meticulously crafted bottle measuring 195 x 85 x 85 millimeters, complemented by an environmentally conscious outer packaging constructed from fifteen layers of recycled and recyclable kraft paper, measuring 300 x 120 x 120 millimeters. The packaging system's distinctive characteristic lies in its sustainable approach, utilizing no additional adhesives in its construction while maintaining structural integrity. The design process involved extensive prototyping, including numerous clay models for the bottle's development, culminating in a limited production of 250 units. This sophisticated packaging solution not only serves its primary functional purpose but also engages multiple sensory experiences through thoughtful incorporation of varied textures, establishing a deeper connection between the product and its users. The project, which spanned from October 2016 to May 2017, demonstrates exceptional attention to market research, user personas, and strategic planning, particularly considering its target market in Switzerland. The design successfully overcame international collaboration challenges while maintaining professional standards and meeting project deadlines, ultimately creating a packaging solution that effectively combines aesthetic appeal with practical functionality.
